time to take a break

I figured I would give all of my friends a freight and actually post. Here is an update
after a grueling semester, I have emerged with more than my confidence, I have more perspective. I am beginning to get all those little patterns of wealth and poverty and discrimination and masculinity and how they are interconnected. I am, on top of my sh*t
I have been single for longer than I am comfortable mentioning, but it is actually not all that bad. I don't have the morning after symptom of "I did WHAT to WHO for HOW MANY cookies?!?
I am meeting new people and having new experiences, but I miss people in DC like a fish misses water. and so I have this request of everyone that is going to be in town at all during winter break. I am going to get into town on December 16th, and I am going to leave sometime in January. let me know when you are in town so that I can make a return trip and be able to see everyone. that is my goal. maybe I will have a "small get-together" if there is any interest. let me know.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to let people know that I am going to be back in town for about a week, and wanted to see as many as I can before I fly back to Vermont for months (I don't think I will be back in the DC area for any length of time again until December. So if you are available some time between the 17th and the 29th of August, you should reply to this post with what specific availability you have. If you are going to Shrewsbury, disregard this message. I am so excited to be spending this much time in DC I am about to pee my pants. seriously. this is not a cheap joke. chao for now!

OR so they say... I am having a good time, I realized that I left my shoes in Hinesburg. My shoes. I feel like a dunce, but I have a pair of flip flops that I have been wearing in thier stead. But I cannot wear them to the training that I have today. I am going to have to either wear the ratty ones, or get a friend of mine to drive me out there this morning. oh well, I spose I did get myself into this, I have nobody to blame but myself. I had people over last night, but I was so dead tired that I fell asleep. It was just two friends, and one was 'Neth (the guy). I was so embarassed, only not that much so. Next time I will cook for them, and they will be over it. It is all good. So I have this Social Security conference this weekend. It is going to be pretty rockstar. But they are going to work me like I have never been worked before. ughh. oh well, I will get over it and be better for the knowledge.

and now, for some real updating. I have found that guys my age tend to be more immature than I am able/willing/want to deal with in relationships. But I have to say, I am really surprising myself with this one. I met a guy that is really nice. He is about what I have been looking for as far as being someone that is conservation minded, someone that is compassionate, intelligent/willing to muse me in random conversations about politics and the interrelatedness of humankind, and he is also caring and gets along with my circle of friends. He is really respectful of boundaries, and I just can't get enough of him. I am taking this slow, because I think I have a tendency to rush into being in a relationship. But he is definitely someone that i can take home to meet mom. Pam would like him too, and that is saying something. BUT, there is the fact that he is 37. This just blows my mind, because I did not realize he was that much older than me (19) I am okay with the age difference becuase he is not pushing me to do anything I don't want to do, and there is some intense chemistry between us. I am starting to begin to understand the situation with my brother, wherein he can date and then marry someone that has my mother by almost a decade. But I think that is a completely different situation.

In other news, I got to pay rent without having to sell my ass on the street. I went to Hinesburg and worked for Kay and Rob, this couple that has a lot of work for me whenever I need it.

And I get trained in the phone interview job on wednesday, which makes me kinda excited. I will be happy to get a paycheck soon.

Okay, so it has been quite a long time since I have updated, and so I guess I better had. I have not been much for preamble, asd so I got some bad news last wednesday. My father had been on a pacemaker, with a heart that was working at 15% of capacity. one or the other or both failed, and he died. On saturday morning I was on the plane, then in the train, then in a car, to get to the funeral in Pleasantvile, 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City. After spending some time with mom and Pam and Wayne in DC, I got back late last night. I am starting to be able to sort out my feelings about my father, because as those of you who know me may be aware, it was complicated. He never did have much time for me, but when he did, he was as much and as loving a father as anyone. But when he was not there, and not on the phone, he was not very available. I feel that the loss is a big one, because now he won't get to see me grow into the person I am. He is not going to be there to see me get my degree, or any of those things, but in a way maybe he will. I don't know that I believe in ghosts or life after death, but I cannot contemplate my own non-existence, and thus that of others. and so maybe in a way now he can be there for all of his children and stepchildren in a different way. THat is it for now, but if you want to talk, email me, or call my house to get my cell number from pam.

Golly Gee willekers it was cold today!
So the wind chill was supposed to be negative twenty. Sheesh! now I love the cold and all, but that is excessive. Days like this make you want to go skiing so that you can at least take advantage of the weather.
I had my first day of work today. It was at Samara Foundation of Vermont, a group that gives support to groups that help out the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender communities in the state. They rock my world.
I get a free membership at the Y for paying for my school, which is great, because I need to stay in shape to keep up in this hip-hop class that I am taking. I got a partial scholarship so that I could afford it on a student salary, and that is good. School starts tomorrow, and my first class is The Mathematics of Social Choice. It is all to do with wealth distribution and all that kinda thing, so it should be fun.
I am so flippin fatigued right now, and I have to be to school by 9:00 tomorrow, so I am going to skidaddle. good night and kisses all around!

Yes, everyone's favorite flamer has decided to get to a compy lab so that I can communicate with the outside world. I have been getting oriented for two days and had to sleep for 10 hours to make up for it. I have been the most domestic ever, what with crocheting and cooking up a storm. I have so much fun up here on the west coast of New England, and I am rocking it out hard core old school (i.e. before clubs and whatnot) style. My room is pretty cool, and there is free lodging for anyone that wants to visit me here in burlington. my new email is Cdavis85@comcast.net, so send me an email, and I will send you my phone number. I have lost my cell phone, and with it many, many numbers. more to come when I can get internet access in my room (those bastards at Verizon do not make it easy or inexpensive.

Okay, so now I realize that I have time and crap, and so I can update my LJ. I have been listening to a lot of Capitol Steps, and they are funny. my finances are a little close until my mommy gets her tax check, but then I will be able to get my books. that is good stuff there. Otherwise, I have gotten a job, babysitting these three kids, and the family is willing to pay somewhere between 10 and 15 bucks. it would be totally awesome because they would want me to be there every tuesday and thursday afternoon. I am having issues issues with guys too (inquire if you want a full report.) what else is there? I dunno. I will post again tomorrow with the stuff that I forgot today.

WoW, this is amazing. There is not much that can describe the waiting that went into turning 18, or the amount of sheer happiness that I am experiencing at this very moment. I had a great day, I got to flirt shamelessly with guys (none of which are very much attracted to me(well, maybe one)), and I got to just have a marvelous time. I recieved a B on my Psych test, and I get my English essay back tomorrow. I am so going to get my hair cut, bleached, and dyed tomorrow. It is that serious. Well, that is enough for now, but I will post again shortly

Yeah, I have to ditto Julius12 and say that it is really surprising news, and I just hope everything will work out.

What a feeling. I am really happy that I got to go to Burlington with some independence this week, because it has given me some much needed exploration time. I met some really cool people, couple of hot guys (of course) and then got told that one of them was not the kinda guy I need to be mixing with, but did not get much in the way of explanation. I will have to ask around to get the scoop.

Today was interesting, because Kay made me act like a rich bitch. we went to this restaurant where the food was frikkin expensive. I'm talking about 20 dollar entrees, with the mandatory 7 dollar salad, and of course, a 6 dollar dessert. It was painful to (not have to) spend that much money. golly gee willeckers.

The pool at Kays is really nice right now becuase it is just the perfect time of the summer, where nights are cool, days are warm, and the sun shines. The one problem is that I don't get to be a nightowl as much as I would be in TP. I wish I knew where I stood with Adam. I have not gotten to talk to him in like forever. it is annoying. But I am finding it easier and easier to be single. it's okay not to have a significant other. It is even fun. wow, I am getting tired. I am going to get on Aim. Chilll wit yall latah.

Rant from the middle of the Bus

Why is it a proud moment when a black guy "defies" a white person for adhering to the rules he has to adhere to. Today I got on the Bus at blair, along with many other students and a few people that were older. When everyone is situated except two black guys, I think, 'great, I can get home without being distracted, get some history reading done on the bus and everything will be fine. But boy was I wrong. The two guys at the front did not satisfy the bus driver with the amount that they put in the fare machine. The driver decided that this was not something he was going to let slide, and he made the bus stay still til he had the money. At this point, a woman said "here I need to get home" and handed them twenty cents. this was enough to please the bus driver.

Now I want you all to remember that this is Ceddipoo, and I don't mean to offend anyone with the way I refer to anyone.

Then the guys go to the back of the bus, and they are talking about how racist the bus driver is becuase he would not start the bus up til they paid up. Bear in mind that there is no way for us to know what capacity the bus driver has to bend the rules. the guys start talking about "stealin' that racist cracka off the top" when they get off the bus, and they say it loud enough for the driver to hear. One of the guys is more apprehensive, and does not want to do it. The other one is more ready to "stand up to the blatant racism".

In the end, they both move closer to the front of the bus, with the support of the back of the bus, and they actually hit the driver, once a piece, as they leave the bus. I was shocked, and this was my stop, so I was freaked out. The guys ran away, the driver ran after them for a while, and then I thought it was all over. the driver got back on the bus, I got off, and I went on to the F4. But there was another girl on the bus, gloating about the proud moment.

She recounted the story, making the details a little more juicy, making the driver a little more racist, and, possibly most disturbing, making the cowards who hit a man who was bound to a bus and sat in a seatbelt, seem like heroes. she made it sound like the driver was horrible, like the cowards were heroes, and the whole world would be better that this guy was hit in the face by two people that have a chip on their shoulder. why is it that people look at this and see nothing wrong. why is it that they preach this driver was a racist when all the evidence points to them being more racist then he ever will be. I don't think that these guys represent what I think of as the black community, and I hope you don't either.

Feeling Somewhat better

Okay, so I rode my bike to school today, got some excercise, adn I am feeling soo much better. I had a nice sized dinner, a nap during peace studies, and all that good stuff. I have alot to be thankful for, and it is when I realise that that I will be able to cheer up again. I had a wonderful relationship with someone that I will always respect and enjoy, and now I have a friend in him that I can count on (after the initial wierd time). So things are not as bad as they seem. well, I am going to get back to the homework(or continue to click around on LJ, you know, same difference.)

So Yeah. Today was like whoa. I had to deal with the whole not having Tommy as a boyfriend for the second time, and I was all deprimido (depressed). I just really didn't like it, and
then when I was at school, all my friends were for the most part helpful, but there were some that were kinda antagonizing. Oh well, that is the way things go sometimes. I really ned to be single for a while. This is going to be tough. getting through the whole conclusion of the relationship is the hardest part, but then again...no wait, it is just hard. but of course with friends like Leerie, I can get through it. oh well, back to communications class
